The High Court has approved two settlements arising from two separate High Court personal injury* actions taken on behalf of the injured children against two childcare facilities.

In the first personal injury action, the High Court approved a settlement of €122,000 in favour of a child who it was alleged suffered serious personal injuries after being struck in the eye by a jet of water from a hose at the childcare facility, Ella, based at Commons Road, Navan, Co Meath. The injured girl, through her father, sued the operators of Sandy's Childcare Ltd, with a registered address at Grange End, Dunshaughlin, Co Meath for personal injuries arising from alleged negligence and breach of duty of care.

In the second case, the High Court approved a settlement of €51,500 for a young girl who it was alleged suffered a deep laceration to her head when she tripped and hit her head on the edge of a sharp skirting board. The girl, through her mother, took a personal injury claim against Giraffe Childcare Ltd.
